I Love Illinois Week (#ILLINOISlove) is dedicated to building school pride and spirit, creating a culture of philanthropy on campus, and celebrating the greatness of Illinois. The event will be hosted by 1867 Society and co-sponsored by the Student Alumni Ambassadors, the Office of Student Affairs, and the Illinois Student Senate. Numerous departments/colleges across campus will also be participating with specific events geared toward their unit.
You can find more details on our timeline. Or follow the activities on Facebook, facebook.com/1867society, or Twitter, @Illinois_1867. If you have more questions, contact 1867 Society President Katie Chan at firstname.lastname@example.org or 1867 Society Adviser Sharla Jolly at email@example.com.
Congratulations to the finalists for the 1867 Society Fund: Pizza FM, Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE), and Enactus. All are campus-based, student-run projects that need financial assistance. Your gifts to the 1867 Society Fund could help one of these finalists. In April, donors to the Fund get to vote where the money goes!
The 1867 Society Council is comprised of student leaders who work to increase giving to Illinois. You may not know it, but tuition and state funding do not pay for everything that you enjoy on campus. Generous gifts from alumni, faculty, friends, staff and students add to your experience by providing scholarship assistance, study abroad trips, research opportunities, and so much more.
It takes all of us working together to make an impact. If you love Illinois and want to join us as we raise awareness about the importance of private gifts, please contact the V.P. of External Recruitment, Janet Lee, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You LOVE Illinois. It was clear from the response to "I Love Illinois" Week that students LOVE the campus. We hope that your feelings for Illinois will continue to grow and you will consider taking the next step...making a gift. You can support an area of campus that you LOVE or a campus project through the 1867 Society Fund.
Our goal is to increase student giving to Illinois. We want students to understand that tuition doesn't pay for everything that they enjoy on campus. The generous gifts from alumni and friends add to our experience. It takes all of us working together to make an impact. We encourage students to give to Illinois out of appreciation for those gifts and passion for their Alma Mater.
